Stephen Chow, renown for his talent in the craft of humour, is far from just a successful comedian.
A 2 piece series in A CHINESE ODYSSEY is a testimony of his range of skills, & mastery in his craft.

A classic Chinese literature spiked with favours of the melting pot culture in the Hong Kong 90s, An era never seen before has nourished a unique blend of cinematic moment.
Imagine a story about a demigod rebel against the divine, humbled & humanise, loss in captive, harden by revival, then falls in love with the pain of liminality.
All this with a ridiculous boss of a monk who doesn't shut the F up, a pig being your most trusted friend who has back-stab you on many occasions. From there, time travel to savage his first love just to found his last a moment too late.
A story mixed in with humour of a brute & the romance of a poetic...it's a classic turn Rom-Com adventure, Sci-Fantasy drama plus Martial arts action coming-to-age movie, ended with an underlining message of rebirth & reconciliation. BRAVO.... all that J.D. in a single lead role.
This arc reminds me of the Hong Kong 90s, a time of mad chaos & rapid growth.
From there... where do we go?
PS: I adored the puppet action era ...
